1968 XR7-G 390 S-code Big Block
UPDATE: 9/6/12: This cat has found a new home and is no longer for sale. Thank you!
I acquired this XR7-G in the summer of 2010. It is a fully documented and have been verified and listed in the XR7-G registery. It is one of 1 of 296 Cougar XR7-G's produced with the Hi-performance 390 GT motor with a Automatic Transmission. The XR7-G's are a rare (only 619 built) one-year only option package and NOT to be confused with the more commor Dan Gurney Specials that were produced by the 10,000s. Some consider these cars to be the "Shelby" of Cougars as they were hand modified right beside the Shelby Mustangs by A.O. Smith the same company the created the Shelby Mustangs for Ford. Even the valve covers have Shelby cast into the inside of them.
This car had just come out of 32 years in storage. The car spent all its life in Indiana and was last on the road in 1978. I am the fouth owner of this car and it has only a little over 60K original miles. The previous owner bought the car at an estate auction and had plans of doing a complete restoration but his plans changed when he had to move his homestead.
I have given the car an external freshen-up this winter with new paint, new bumpers, most of trim & emblems, and installed hand-painted pin stripes. The car is an Original Lime Frost, XR7-G with a matching numbers S-code 390 with a C-6 transmission. It also has PS, PB, AC, Tinted Glass, AM Radio, and H-D Suspension options. The interior in the car is excellent original with only the front seats and console top having been recovered. This car has been completely gone though for reliability and safety. It drives like a 60,000 mile car should. Asking Price is $32,500.
